Question : My wife has developed some red spots on both the hands suddenly after some dusting done at home. Attached the photo. If possible, can someone please share details about what could be the problem and medication for the same.
Brief Answer:
Hives/ Urticaria
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and viewed the image.
She seems to have got Hives or Urticaria- red, welts with flare. The welts are usually itchy. I suggest her to take an oral antihistamine e.g cetirizine 10mg tablet once a day for a few days. In addition she may use a topical soothing lotion e.g calamine lotion to calm down the rashes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thanks for the recommendation doctor. Rashes actually spreaded as a layer and then disappeared slowly. Curious to know the reasons for this problem. Can you please share some details about the same ?
Brief Answer:
Hives
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
That is how hives present. They disappear after a few hours and may reappear the next day. This may continue for a few days. The most common triggering factors for hives are- infections(viral e.g upper respiratory infection, bacterial, fungal or parasitic e.g intestinal worms); drugs like painkillers, antibiotics, vitamin and nutritional supplements; certain food and food preservatives etc. Hives that are recent in onset are usually self resolving in 2-3 weeks. Only symptomatic treatment with an Oral antihistamine like cetrizine is usually required.
