Question : My wife has moderate RA, and has been on Enbrel successfully for 8 or 9 years. Yesterday and today, sever shoulder pain. Can I give her ibuprofen with a tiny 2.5 mg of oxycodone?

Hello, thanks for using Ask a Doctor. Enbrel doesn't have any interactions with ibuprofen and oxycodone, so there should not be any problem with using those medications for acute pain control. If this pain is from her RA and persists for several days, she may need adjustment of her RA meds, including the Enbrel dose or using steroids temporarily in order to get the pain under control, since using the oxycodone wouldn't be a good long-term medication.
