Question : My wife is getting some rashes on the upper side of the palm. This is primarily due to excessive use of detergents - she is an OCD patient and hence uses detergents multiple times for washing hands. the rashes are reddish and there is mild irritation - not much pain. Please suggest some medication

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Contact dermatitis, topical steroid, moisturising cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and it seems to be contact dermatitis.
I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream ( tenovate cream) on the affected areas twice daily along with frequent and regular application of a moisturizing cream containing white soft paraffin ( moisturex soft cream) on the entire hands 3-4 times in a day for 10-12 days.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor.
Also keep her hands moisturized, stay away from harsh soaps.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
