My Wife Is Having Fever Since Last Night

Ibuprofen for fever and body pains
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. Assuming she is otherwise not feeling too sick (able to eat or drink, able to talk normally), this would sound like a typical viral illness, and usually we would recommend taking Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for the fever. Ibuprofen would also help more with the body aches and pains as well, so I would suggest using Ibuprofen, as long as she is younger than 65 years old, and no problems with kidneys or stomach ulcers. I would also recommend getting plenty of fluids and rest as much as possible.
If COVID-19 is prevalent in your area, this could also be symptoms of that virus. If so, I would recommend getting testing for this if possible.
Typically viral illnesses will have fevers for 2-3 days, and symptoms will start to improve by that time as well. If she is still having fevers after 4-5 days, or no improvement by then, I would recommend seeing a doctor to get an examination and basic blood tests to make sure nothing else is going on.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
