Question : My wife recently started metformin and birth control. Within 2 days she basically kicked me out of the house and said she didn't love me anymore. Within the next 2 days she told me she wanted seperation papers. It has now been 3 weeks and she has not backed down at all. We have a precious little boy and she still isn't willing to try and save our family. Could the medicine be effecting her so badly it could cause these feelings?
Brief Answer:
Hormonal pills can cause mood swings.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
Progesterone and estrogen used in the birth control pills can cause mood swings, especially depressive symptoms. However it is a very rare side effect. Metformin does not cause any such problems.
In your case it is very unlikely related to pills.
You can take her to a counselling session and hope everything will settle happily.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
