Question: Hi I had a myringatomy procedure done in the posterosuperior quadrant of my ear. Online it says to not do it there. It’s been 4 days since I had procedure. I cannot hear out of my right ear as it’s very muffled. I am extremely worried I will be stuck like this forever….

Brief Answer:
Do not worry! The muffled noise could be due to blood clots inside…

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through the query and understood your problem. The posterior superior quadrant is never used for myringotomy because it is inaccessible and the grommet cannot be placed efficiently. Let me reassure you first.

The second possibility is that blood clots in the middle ear are the cause of the current muffled sounds. To better understand your condition, it would be helpful to get an audiogram.

Additionally, could you kindly provide me with the discharge summary? So that, I can address this query more effectively.

I trust this addresses your question. Let me know if you still have questions.

Brief Answer:
Please get an audiogram done

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

Was an audiogram taken by the doctor to compare the current findings to the prior one? We can learn about the status of the middle ear ossicular chain and the pressure using audiograms, which include pure tone audiometry and tympanometry. Doing so would allow us to determine the severity of any ear problems.

It would be tough to make a judgement about the muffled sound without an audiogram.
