Question: hi, on both sides of my knees i have this rather large vein that becomes itchy. the itch is sometimes so painful. there is also sometimes swelling in one or both knees where the vein is most itchy. in the top of my thighs theres a small lump in the vein and i have several small bruises that have not cleared on my lower legs. should i get this checked out? its never bothered me before except for bring incredibly itchy. the veins look the same on either side,

Hello,

According to your description it seems like you are having varicose vein.
The small bruises may be a milder form of varicose vein called thread veins or spider veins.
You can consult a general surgeon and get a venous Doppler done to confirm the diagnosis and to rule out other conditions.
Nothing much to worry as it can readily curable. You can either go for a sclerotherapy or a laser abalation. The surgeon will explain you about the various treatment options.
As of now you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain.
