Question: I AM O N CELEXA 40 MG - 1 nd 1/2 DAY PLUS XANAX 0.5 MG EVERY THREE HOURS. iS THIS A GOOD COMBINATION FOR DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY? aLSO ON DEPLIN 15MG ONCE A DAY. IT WAS WORKING FOR A WHILE BUT NOW IT IS NOT WORKING FOR ME.

Hi there, thanks for asking. These medications are good for depression and anxiety. The point is that celexa 40 mg can cause orthostatic hypotension. This is a serious problem in elderly and can cause fractures. In many cases the depression responds to lower doses of this medication as well. Xanax is better not be given after the age of 65. The liver power to change the drug is decreased at this age. You may tell your doctor to give you a medication from the same class that does not have excretion root by liver. I prescribe lorazepam in the similar situations. Best wishes.
