On My Recent Blood Test That I Got Back I
Question: On my recent blood test that I got back I noticed that my MCV, MCH and MCHC were all low. MCV was at 78.7, MCH is at 24.4, MCHC is at 31.0. Also noticed that my monocytes absolute was high at 0.91. Everything else was within normal range besides my free testosterone and my igf-1 which is a little high. I do exercise everyday very intensely and I have a very strict diet. I have also had a splenectomy done about 10 years ago and I broke my arm 2 years ago in a motorcycle accident. Don't know if me working out my arm all the time is causing some kind of increase in monocytes due to the fact that it's a severe injury from a couple years ago or not. I do take testosterone injections as well . I would highly appreciate your feedback thank you..
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
First, these findings are fine. There are just small deviations which are not clinically significant and monocyte count may vary even higher than 1.0 especially considering splenectomy. If hemoglobin and iron levels are fine then I would not say that anemia is present and MCV and other are not considered abnormal for these values. Testosterone injection may also have impact on hematologic values. So all in all I don't think that further hematologic work up is required unless you develop some symptoms such as intermittent fevers, lymph node enlargement or weight loss. Wish you good health. Regards
