Brief Answer:
Carpal tunnel syndrome is the likely cause- treatment discussed below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask a Doctor service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms you describe are typical of carpal tunnel syndrome. If you are overweight (BMI over 25) you may benefit from exercises to lose weight. Exercises that strain the wrists such as biking should be avoided.
Wrist brace should be worn for at least 3 weeks every night. Ibuprofen can be taken to reduce inflammation ( as long as your stomach tolerates it)
Short-wave diathermy is a treatment that is found effective as well.
If these do not help enough then local injections with steroids may be tried.
In rare cases, surgery is indicated.

If you get neurological symptoms in other areas as well (weakness, numbness in limbs or problems with swallowing or vision, etc), you will need a thorough neurological examination.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
