On The Front Of My Right Thigh A Prickly, Pins
Question: On the front of my right thigh a prickly, pins and needles feeling has developed. I have no other pain, massage does not cause any discomfort. I run and walk on a treadmill 30 minutes three days a week with no effect from the symptom I describe. There is no other effect than the pins and needles feeling. I have not had any injury of and kind or severity. The sensation is slowly worsening but does not hamper me i any way. In the morning I stretch it and have no problem the rest of the day. What is this and will it get more serious?

Hi,
I went through your concern. Based on your description you developed prickly / pins and needles on the front of right thigh.
1. Do you have similar sensation on the outer aspects / sides of thigh? Does it burn also?

No, I have no manifestations of this anywhere else on my body. I have very mild type 2 diabetes, diagnosed 18 years ago. Fasting blood sugar this morning was 98, yesterday 93I take 2 500mg metformin tablets daily with meals. other maintenance meds are tamsulosin, eliquis, atenolol, atorvastatin, olmesartan, all low doses. I do not use alcohol, have not smoked for over 48 years. Have been physically active in sports, and running most of my life. Current weight 173 lbs, BM! 24. This condition spontaneously appeared about one month ago.

Brief Answer:
A few possibilities - need evaluation...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for providing details. The symptoms you described are not very specific. I am unable to make a straight forward diagnosis here. But there are few possibilities to consider are neuropathy - nutritional or metabolic, a condition called 'meralgia paraesthetica' and even zoaster (shingles) if you had history of rashes in the past.
It won't be easy to diagnosis the cause without clinical examination and tests. As you mentioned the symptoms are worsening, you should seek help of local doctor. The doctor can run a few tests that would include battery of nutrient and metabolic parameters, a scan of the back as well as serological tests. Your search to know the cause will be done only after test results.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
