Question : Over a decade ago, I was diagnosed with swollen optical nerves that a retinologist images and stated was a result of calcium deposits. I occasionally become concerned it was something else, but have no symptoms. I am frequently monitored by an optometrist who took these images more than 7 months ago. I am looking for a simple review.

                                    Brief Answer:
Yes its called optic disc drusen
Detailed Answer:
hello dear thanks for the question. optic disc drusen are benign calcium deposits on the optic nerve and usually they will never cause any problems as they are simply a finding seen in many people . very rarely they are confused as disc swelling by some doctors but it can be easily differentiated as with age the calcium deposits come up on the surface of nerve so they can be seen easily on examination . So i would advise you to relax and just get your eyes checked once in a year . if you have any follow up queries i would be happy to answer the same . best regards
