Brief Answer:
Positivity of single copy of H63D and C282Y genes is heterozygous state

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on Ask A Doctor forum.
H63D and C282Y genes are associated with hemachromatosis - a condition wherein there is iron overload in body.
You have mentioned that you test for single copies of both the genes.
Positivity for single copy is called heterozygous state and positivity for both copies is called homozygous stae.
Homozygous state is associated with more severe course of disease and heterozygous is associated with somewhat milder course of disease.
Treatment of both homozygous and heterozygous condition is same.
Hemachromatosis is monitored with serum ferritin and iron levels.
Rest you need to visit your hematologist on regular basis for treatment and follow up.

Thanks and take care
