Question : Please see my history. I did have insulinoma done when I was 18 years old. I had an insulin tumor for 3 years before the dr. figured I had the tumor. I have been very lucky over the years. I was warned back then that I might convert to being a Diabetic when I get older. I have had off and on battle with my BS. I have had IBS since my twenties. I am normally fighting constipation. Now I have had soft yellow pasty stools off and on for over a month. I never had a problem with nausea but I do now. I even had a spell of vomiting and wishing I could vomit. My diet has not changed otherwise. Though I am eating less I have gained a belly. what going on? I forget to mention that I had bypass surgery 2 years ago. see history. what test do I need?

Brief Answer:
Decreased insulin sensitivity.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for asking query on HealthcareMagic,
Sorry for a bit delayed reply,
Have gone through your query in details.
Answers are-
1)Your weight is increasing despite of eating less is suggestive of decreased insulin sensitivity of your body and decrease in amount of insulin secreted. Both are age related changes. However insulin sensitivity can again be increased by increasing your physical activity.Try to gradually increase your exercise or activities. This would make body receptors more sensitive to insulin.Insulin would prevent glucose from converting into fat and hence would prevent central obesity.

2)IBS and constipation and other problems are also related to fluctuating body levels of insulin. This is called Gastroperesis. The nerves supplying the intestines starts to tear off as a result of improper control of blood sugar by fluctuating levels of glucose and insulin.

Suggestion,
Consult a proper endocrinologist a you have to go through a series of tests like Serum insulin level, etc .

All problems from gut to weight gain constipation are all related to your body insulin level and sensitivity.

Hope I was helpful.
Feel free to folllow up.
Thanks

I am embarrassed. I have been milk intolerance for years and just realized XXXXXXX shakes have milk in them. It is evidently the basic ingredient. I believe I started the shakes about the time of yellow stools. It would explain many of my problems but not the yellow pasty stools, right?

Detailed Answer:
Hello my dear,
Formation of stools is a complex process.
Intially large volume of watery fluid is formed from which water is absorbed in large intestine giving stools a consistency and bulk. Now if you are having milk which irritates your intestines.Irritated intestines would increase the rate of peristalysis of intestine and hence water would not be properly absorbed causing stools to be like a paste.
Solution
Remove from food whatever irritates you.
Thanks.
