Brief Answer:
Images of white patches not received (?vitiligo)
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.
Unfortunately i could not find any images attached with this query. I request you to kindly upload images of the affected areas in "Reports Section" so that I am able to have a look and guide you accordingly. From your description of the skin condition it seems like it could possibly be vitiligo.
Hope to assist you further once I get the images.

Brief Answer:
Hypopigmented patches (Not vitiligo)
Detailed Answer:
Thank you.
I have viewed the Images.
No, these are not worrisome. They are not patches of Vitiligo. Such ill-defined hypopigmented patches are quite common in patients with dry skin. I suggest you to moisturize his skin regularly. You may use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream, twice daily for the white patches after moisturizing the skin. It is a prescription drug
Take care
