Question : my grandson a 15 year old has a bump in back of his head just under his skull. the size of small walnut and is not too hard nor too soft not painful

This is likely to be ateroma or lipoma. These are benign subcutaneous cysts, made of fat tissue or sebaceous glands. These may remain small or grow in future. If it grows, it is recommended to have it surgically removed. Other causes are swollen lymph node or hair follicle inflammation but it would manifest with pain and redness. Wish you good health
