Question : I got a severe sunburn on my back a few weeks ago (blistered, peeling etc) and there is one section of skin on my left shoulder blade that is still very itchy and sensitive (tingling sensations). It looks mildly discolored. Is this just normal healing after a sunburn?

Brief Answer:
It is normal to have these changes after a sunburn

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photograph.
It is normal to have some discoloration, itching and burning sensation after a sunburn.
In some individuals the skin takes time to return back to normal.
I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected area twice daily along with frequent application of a broad spectrum sunscreen on the entire exposed skin during the day time.
Also take antihistaminic like tablet cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime for 10 days.
This will help in hastening the recovery.

Dr Asmeet
