Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch,
Thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor' service.

The most common cause of a bad urine smell would be dehydration, which concentrates the urine and makes it easier to smell the waste products in it.

There are certain foods and vitamins, such as asparagus, which can also produce a noticeable urine smell. Other than these causes, a bad urine smell can also be a sign of a urinary tract infection or uncontrolled diabetes.

If you are having any burning when you urinate, I would get evaluated for a possible urinary tract infection. If not, then I would try to drink more water and see if that helps.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

Also, if you can give me more information about your particular situation, including your past medical history, that may help me speak more specifically regarding your case.
