Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I am happy to help you.

Long time journey with bad roads have some risks in 2nd trimester of pregnancy. These include vaginal bleeding or possibility of miscarriage including general sickness, particularly with having history of diabetes/ hypertension/ previous preterm delivery/ miscarriage.

As her current pregnancy status is normal, she must take some precautionary measures to avoid such risks. Also her doctor's permission is mandatory in such case.

Precaution to be taken as follows:

1) Keep always emergency contact information of your health care provider or near by hospital.
2) Need a comfortable seat preferably in middle zone of bus with open window for fresh air.
3) Complete avoidance of long time standing position and never get off from moving bus.
4) Take some medication in travel kits for morning sickness/ nausea/ vomiting/ indigestion problem along with iron/ calcium supplements.
5) Avoid air pollution or smoking zone and herein air conditioner bus traveling is preferable. Use hand sanitizer and toilet papers to reduce chance of getting infection in outside environment.
6) Drink several times water/ fluids/ juice to stay hydrated all time and it helps in better feto-placental circulation. Only take healthy diet.

Hope, this information is very much sufficient and helpful to you. If you do not have any further clarification, you can close the discussion & rate the answer.

Wish her good health & successful journey of pregnancy.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
