Pregnant. Noticed Purplish Stool. Should I Be Worried?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jan 2013
Question: I am 14 weeks pregnant and just noticed that my stool was purplish/blackish. I am not taking iron supplements, although I did have a lot of beets a few days ago. Is this something to be seriously worried about?

Hi
Welcome to XXXXXXX
It sounds more like dietary changes as the cause.
You need to consult when
1.     There is abdominal pain.
2.     Vomiting.
3.     Loose stools.
4. XXXXXXX blood in the stools.
5.     Persistence of the color for more than 3 days.
Otherwise, this is not alarming.

Best Regards
