Pregnant. Suffering From Cough With Phlegm And Feeling Feverish. Help?

Question: My wife is 10 weeks pregnant now. From past one day she is suffering from cough.
some times she is getting phlegm but most of the times it like a dry cough.
she is feeling feverish too.
Please help us out with best way to get rid of this problem.

Thanks for your query.

By the history of your wife, I think she would need the following advice here :
1. OTC Iodine mouth gargle solution. Dilute 5 ml in half a glass of lukewarm water and gargle 3 to 4 times daily.
2. OTC Paracetamol 500mg tablet about 2 times daily.
3. OTC Karvol steam inhalation 4 times daily.
4. Observe phlegm. If copious and continuous after continuing above for 3 to 4 days then she might need prescription antibiotics from a doctor.
5. Hot milk with black pepper and turmeric does a lot good.

After fever comes down with above mentioned Paracetamol tablet in an hour, she can take normal diet.

If symptoms worsen, report to your doctor.

I should think she should do better with above. Let me know if you have further concerns.
