Question : Hi, my wife has Gestational diabetes and has been maintaining the blood sugar levels. She is currently 18 weeks pregnant and whilst travelling on the Bus today sitting in direct sunlight, felt very uneasy, dizzy and blurred vision. Should we be concerned, as this the second pregnancy. The first pregnancy the child was stillborn before delivery at 8 months, and only weighed .9 kgs. The doctors here said that this was due to the placenta not passing enough blood to the baby and may have also had colts in the placenta.

The uneasy feeling and dizziness while sitting in the direct sunlight could be related to dehydration or hypotension. If this was a short lasting symptom with no such recurrent episodes then there is nothing to worry.
Taking plenty of fluids orally with electrolyte XXXXXXX juices will help in decreasing her discomfort under such circumstances.
Since her blood sugar levels are well maintained and monitored regularly, there is no need to worry.
You can mention about this episode on her next visit to her obstetrician.
