Epidural is beneficial as it is mild.
Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am
Thank you for asking ask a doctor 24/7 service.
I have gone through your query with diligence. As your compromise on L5 nerve root is mild epidural will be beneficial. Benefits can last for 3 months at least.
If symptoms not improving better to go for microdiscectomy.
If you have never tried TENS (physiotherapy) then better to go for this first. If there is no improvement in this then you can think of epidural.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you anytime.
Thanks.
