Brief Answer:
Management of Gout
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Active gout episode is best treated with high dose Ibuprofen. You can take 400 mg 4 times a day for the first day. Increase the dose to 800 mg thrice daily from second day onward. Take adequate rest and apply ice to the area.
You can also take RANITIDINE (Zantac) 150 mg thrice daily to prevent upset stomach due to high dose Ibuprofen.
Once the acute pain subsides, long-term treatment with uric acid-lowering agents like allopurinol and probenecid can be initiated.
Also, avoid purine-rich food and alcohol to prevent recurrence.
Hope this answers your question.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
