Question: Ive had my Mirena IUD for a little over 6 months now. My periods were very light spotting or nothing. I’ve never gotten a heavy period while with Mirena . Today I woke up to black blood in my panties and it was a lot of blood. I start experiencing some cramping. Later on in the day my lower back starts hurting. At the end of the day my lower back and lower abdominal area is aching all over. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Lower back and abdominal pain with blood discharge may indicate infection but this is also with fever ,odor, pain when urinating, painful intercourse.
If these symptoms also occurs than you should consult doctor and remove mirena.
