Should I Be Worried I Recently Noticed Resting Heart Rate Is 56-58 At Times?

Question : I recently noticed resting heart rate is 56-58 at times. I have no cardiac symptoms of anything being wrong. I exercise 3-4 week, running 3-4 miles a week, typically running a mile in 9 mins 30 secs. Never out of breath, no chest pains, no palpitations or arrhythmias. I'm 41, 5ft 11in 190 lbs. Is this a normal resting heart rate?

Through reading your query I would like to help you with this question. Resting heart rate you meant low heart rate 56-58? Or you meant you feel your heartbeat is skipping sometimes? For low heart rate can be from your physical exercise and you are muscular (athletes). Having a slow heartbeat doesn’t always cause problems. If you have a low heart rate or bradycardia you still are healthy. But some medicine also can cause your heart rate to be low. Let me know any medicine name you are taking now.

If you feel you have other symptoms like feeling light-headed or dizzy, fainting, feel tired, chest pain, trouble breathing, you need to see a doctor. He or she will do a physical exam and electrocardiogram (ECG) and some blood tests.

My heart doesn't skip any beats that I notice. I currently take Lexapro and levothyroxine. I had my thyroid levels checked 6 months ago and they were fine. I don't experience any SOB, chest pains, or anything else. When I take my pulse at rest it can be 56-58 but not all the time. I was unsure if a pulse below 60 is reason for concern.

Thank you for your clarification. Lexapro also can cause slow heart rate but but so less chance. If you are healthy with no other associated symptoms, you can continue it. People who have no symptoms usually do not need treatment. But if you have symptoms that I already mentioned above your doctor might change or stop any medicines that could be slowing your heartbeat or rule out others medical causes.
