Should I Consult A Doctor To Find The Cause Of Constant Pain In The Lower Right Abdomen?

default
Posted on Fri, 8 Mar 2019
Question: I'm having some pain in the lower right abdomen. It kind of feels like appendicitis, but I had my appendix removed years ago. I'm not experiencing any constipation, or other IBS symptoms, nor do I have a fever, nausea, or dizziness. It's just getting to be quite a nuisance as it's been bothering me for about 20 hours. Do I need to be seen?

Brief Answer:
Possible flatulence or gas pain.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Since you do not have any fever, diarrhea, constipation or any other concerning symptoms along with the pain, the likely cause could be gas pain.

Please be advised to eat small frequent meals. Avoid carbonated drinks, chewing gums and smoking (if you do so). Avoid fatty, fried food and limit dairy for a few days.

You can also take over the counter simethicone to relieve pain. Please be reassured that simethicone will not interfere with pregnancy or conceiving.

If the pain persists or worsens, or you develop fever, diarrhea, vomiting please follow up with the urgent care.

Hope this answers your question.
