Question : Hi ! I've been taking Fioricet for quite sometime for bad headaches (not migraines) and I'm finding it rebounds and also is giving me a nauseated feeling many times however, it's very difficult to not use it since I have not found an alternative that works. C4/5 fused itself and the disc above is heading that way so what might you suggest to wean me off of it since I can't seem to do so because I have not found an alternative that truly works.....Kindly advise...Thanks
Brief Answer:
You can try Ultracet instead.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Floricet is a combination of acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. The butalbital part may be the reason for nausea.
You can take 'Ultracet' which is a combination of Acetaminophen and Tramadol which has got good results in a long-standing headache and side effects are minimal.
You can also try Acetaminophen / Aceclofenac combination also. But it is not recommended for long-term use.
Wishing you good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Ultracet does not cause abdominal discomfort and it will not worsen the symptoms associated with hiatal hernia. Gastritis is minimal with Ultracet and it is one of the recommended drug for especially.
You can take Ultracet on an SOS basis means you can take the drug when you have pain or when you have a feeling of impending headache.
Coming to Fioricet, As I said its combination of acetaminophen, Butalbital, and Caffeine. Butalbital is known to be habit forming and can trigger withdrawal symptoms when abruptly stopped. You can gradually stop taking Florital rather than abrupt tapering. Its dose can be tapered to half every week. If you experience any withdrawal symptoms you can take Lorazepam at a low dose and antihistamines like Pheniramine. Generally the withdrawal symptoms are not that much severe and will settle in few days.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
