Question : I’ve been taking Amlodipine Besylate for 3 months for Stage 2 Hypertension And congestive heart failure. I also have RA but do not take any prescription medication for this - only all natural supplements for pain and inflammation. The Bromelain is made from Pineapple enzyme. It is indicated that pineapple should not be eaten while on Amlodipine Besylate. Should I discontinue the Bromelian?

Regarding your concern, I would explain that there are no contraindications to amlodipine while taking Bromelain. So, there is no reason to stop taking Bromelain.

There might be some mild interaction between Bromelain and amlodipine, in increasing amlodipine effects and thus cause drop in blood pressure values.

Anyway, I would just recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure values while taking these drugs concomitantly. I would also recommend taking them separately from each other during the day (in different meals).
