Question : Hello, I was diagnosed with enlarged abdominal aorta yesterday day via Ultra Sound. The reading was 4cm. Should I expect major surgery?
Brief Answer:
Enlarged aorta if 4 cm is not treated with surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The typical size of an abdominal aorta, is 2.0 to 3.0 centimeters. An enlarged abdominal aorta is greater than 3.0 cm.
The enlargement of 4 cm is a small enlargement.
It is usually monitored by regular scans to check its size.
It is also advised to make healthy lifestyle changes to help stop it getting bigger.
It is not treated with major surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
