Should I Get A Rh- Shot? I’ve Had Three Miscarriages,

Question: Should I get a rh- shot? I’ve had three miscarriages, one involving a D&C- all miscarriages before 9 weeks. I recently had my third miscarriage at 6 weeks and now I’m pregnant again three weeks later. (I’m rh-) The midwife says I don’t need one (I live in the Netherlands and they make us see a midwife). If I don’t get the rh- shot does it increase my chances of having another miscarriage at 28? The other two miscarriages were in my early 20s.

Brief Answer:
Not needed if you had shot after last miscarriage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If you had the Rh shot after your last miscarriage then a shot is not needed now. You can get an indirect coomb's test done and in case the antibodies are detected then you can get the shot. The shot is given within 24 hours of the miscarriage or delivery.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your quick response. I was not given a shot after my miscarriage. Should I ask to be given the shot now since I’m pregnant or should I ask for this test to check my antibodies? (I’m only 4 weeks)

Brief Answer:
You should go for the blood test.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The shot for the prevoius miscarriage cannot be given now. You should go for the test to detect any antibodies present in your blood.
Hope my answer is helpful.
