Question : Should I see a doctor if my resting heart rate is constantly around 92 but I have great blood pressure. Also while I was running my heart rate stayed around 134 but then all of a sudden it changed to 65 and this is while I was 3 miles into my run.

Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that these heart rate fluctuations are quite normal during physical activity.

You should know that after regular physical training, the body achieves a new mean heart rate , lower than before.

This happens in all sport persons, who have a lower heart rate compared to other non active persons.

Nevertheless, I would recommend performing an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time, even during running.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

I thought it was odd when my friend put on my heart rate monitor and it was way lower than mine at resting. I would think because I do 3-5 cardio workouts a week it would be a much lower resting heart rate. The only person I know that has a resting heart rate as high as mine is my father but he has had 2 heart attacks. I appreciate your quick and thorough response and thank you for your help.

Very Respectfully,
Russell Fox.

Brief Answer:
My opinion as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Your resting ECG is not indicative of bradycardia and as long as you do not have any symptoms like shortness of breath or lightheadedness, you should not worry about it!

Anyway, an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring performed during physical activity and resting condition would help examine your heart rhythm trends better and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I would be glad to review your Holter monitoring results for a second opinion, whenever you will be able to upload them for a second opinion!

Wishing all the best,
