Should I Seriously Consult An ENT Specialist Regarding A Growing Hard Lump At The Side Of The Nose Bridge?

Question : I have had a small, hard lump growing to the side of the bridge of my nose towards my nostril for about 6 months. It is approx. 5mm in size and does not seem to have changed since I first noticed it. You cannot see it but feel it. I went to see my GP about it who commented it is not a cyst as it is too hard for that and it is likely to be cartilage, nothing to worry about. The lump is also not causing any other problems, the inside of my nose looks fine (GP checked) and the skin on the outside is fine too. I am trying hard not to worry and follow the advice of my GP to ignore it unless it starts causing problems (nose bleeds or it becoming apparent on the skin). However, a vague small blue line has now started to appear next to the bump, which could be a burst blood vessel maybe. I am not sure what is going on and whether it would be advisable to get a 2nd opinion and see an ENT maybe? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Brief Answer:
Septal spur
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
According to your description, I am of the opinion that it could be a septal spur. Spur is a cartilagenous or a bony projection from the nasal septum.
As the anterior end or the front portion of the nasal septum is richly supplied with blood there can be engorgement of the blood vessels over the area stretched by the nasal mucosa.
No intervention is required unless you have nasal block or bleed.
If you could send us a picture of the same, I’ll be able to help you in a better way.
Hope this answers your query; I’ll be available for the follow up queries.

Thank you so much for responding to my query so swiftly and this seems to be in line what my GP is thinking (although she did not go into such detail, which I would have found more helpful). I will keep an eye on the lump and will obviously follow up further if anything changes or if I get a nasal block or bleed. You cannot see the lump but only feel it so I don't think it would help to send a picture.
Best regards
