Question : Thank you. About 1992 I had a nose procedure done on me in a one day over night process. I have lost my records on the operation. Is there an examination that can determine the magnitude of the surgery now. I know that Imwas told Ihad a deviated septum at one time and I had o polyp removed in a doctor's office some time before the one day surgery. I have been on sleep apnea CPAP operation for years and had a recent very serious nosebleed ( posterior I think) and am wishing to know if I should be cauterized before going back to a CPAP operation as I wasn't.
Brief Answer:
Cauterization not needed at this point
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since the nasal bleed have been effectively controlled there is no need for cauterization at this point. You can go ahead and use CPAP with humidifier. You can also use saline nasal drops to prevent nasal dryness.
If you develop recurrent episodes of nasal bleed or it becomes difficult to control the bleed, then cauterization can be considered.
