Question : I was strangled in a triangle hold. It was for roughly 15 seconds and enough pressure where I could feel myself losing air but I could still talk until I was released. I never lost consciousness. I feel/hear a popping noise when I press into my neck. Center of throat area to the left of where Adam’s apple would be. It’s like a pop in and out. Is this something I should go in to get looked at or is that normal?

                                    Brief Answer:
I don't think this popping is important.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
The popping in and out at apple can be caused by thyroid cartilage.
Thyroid cartilage has hard consistence but is flexible and moves when you push it to side.
This popping is normal and is not a cause to get concerned.
I believe that compression was not strong since you were able to breathe and talk .
If you see any bruising, swelling or have difficulty breathing you should go imediately to ER or call 911.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. I also fell on my back pretty hard a few minutes before that. I now have upper shoulder pain and neck pain. I can still move my head/neck side to side but with a little noticeable pain pressure. Should this be okay as well after icing it and taking ibuprofen for a few days? Or when should I be concerned about the pain?

                                    Brief Answer:
If you have very strong pain go to doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think that if the pain is very strong and you have difficulty moving better to get a visit to local clinic.
If you have mild pain and can act quite normal there is no need to visit a doctor.
Take Advil or acetaminophen for pain and use ice compresses.
