Question : My recent lab test showed an albumin level of 3.7 and globulin level of 3.9. Should I worry
Brief Answer:
Low albumen is uncommon in healthy people.
Detailed Answer:
hi XXXXXXX
thanks for posting.
Low albumen is uncommon in healthy people.
There are 3 important causes for that
1. Liver disease
2. Kidney disease loosing albumen (albumenuria)
3. Malabsorption leading to increased albumen loss
Lastly, poor nutrition and heavy alcohol consumption can also cause low albumen.
I would like to say that 3.7 albumen is fair enough (lower side of normal range) and globulin is normal, and you need not worry about having one among those diseases listed by me.
Please fell free to post back.
