Should Medication Be Changed While Treating An Urethral, Testicular And Perineal Inflammation

Question: Greetings. I am a 34yo male pharmacist, and need medical advice. Two months ago I had tonsillitis with fever, I have easy access to medicine, started taking azythro 500 once a day. Took 6 days to no outcome, went to penicillin injection, 2 days was cured. But got diarrhea and penile yeast (redness, inflammation, disperse and discreet bumps, occasional itch and NO urethral discharge) probably candidiasis because of all the antibiotics, in my opinion, so started cotrimazole cream 2x a day. Weeks went by and didn't get fully assymptomatic, until I started to have urethra burning sensation, decided to take fluconazole 150 once. Didn't get better and started to have testicle and perineal inflation and slight pain, also on the lower abdomen. Started on Doxycycline but went to a doctor. He said it was probably a subclinical prostatitis since I didn't get any fever, and started on ofloxacine 200mg X2 a day for 15 days, after finishing the doxy. So far, I am on the seventh day of ofloxacine, two months have passed the symptoms are a bit better, not cured, still have inflamed urethra tip and reddish gland, testicular and perineal inflammation, although it was never noticeable to the eye, ocasional pain but very mild, never had fever, I'm really starting to get anxious here, should I switch antibiotics? clotrimoxazole perhaps? Thank you in advance

Brief Answer:
I suggest you to finish the course of ofloxacine and not switch antibiotics

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to subclinical prostatitis as your doctor said.
I think that switching up antibiotics has created a bacterial resistance in your system.
This is why recovery can be slower in your case.
I suggest you to be patient and finish the course of antibiotics that you started, in this case ofloxacine.
I don't suggest to switch antibiotics.
After the course of antibiotics you should do a PSA level test.
It should be normal about four to six weeks.

Hope my answer was helpful.
