Brief Answer:
You should get a single tetanus shot.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If the staple went deeply, so there is wound visible right now, you should get single dosage of Tetanus shot. I assume that the staple was on the ground. This makes a possibility of Clostridium Tetani bacteria presence on it.
Tetanus shot should not be given only if you have Tatanus vaccination 5 years ago or earlier.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
There is no wound so no need to have tetanus shot.

Detailed Answer:
Well, that makes things different. If the skin was not teared, the risk of infection is almost none. So no need to have any Tetanus shot.

I am sorry to ask another question i hope that I didn't confuse you with my second question. The staple had been on the floor i stepped on it and it did go into the bottom of my heel i pulled it out and instantly could not see where it had gone in so i put neosporin on the entire heel to make sure i got tbe right spot. Heel looked normal immediately after and still does 56 hours later it was a small 5/16 inch staple. I really hope you feel I don't need a tetanus shot as i have two serious issues, with both of my shoulders and upper arms a total thickness, rotator cuff tear on the left and a labral tear on the right. The pain is so severe and i just cant risk more shoulder and joint pain and complications. Thank you so much for your time and concern.

Brief Answer:
Tetanus shot is not necessary.

Detailed Answer:
If the staple would go deeply, the blood should appear. No sign of blood indicates that the wound is only superficial. Heel has very thick skin so its not easy to break it.
So in conclusion, your wound is not deep so no need to have Tatanus shot. Please do not be worried about it. There is no reason for that.

Regards.
