Question : Since early this morning I have had the urge to urinate about every 45 minutes. I'm 70 years old, type 2 diabetes on medication. Even though my bladder is empty at times, I still get the urge to urinate.

I can understand your concern. A frequent urge to urinate can have several causes, the most common of all being a urinary tract infection, an enlarged prostate, or diabetes (which you've already mentioned).

Before I may be able to give you an accurate answer, I need to know whether you are also experiencing pain or burning upon urination, whether there is any change in the color of your urine (e.g. red or pink tinge or clots), whether you feel any pain behind the bladder.

Also, do you have any fever?
Have you experienced any difficulty controlling your urine?
Do you have any difficulty starting urination?
You've mentioned having type 2 diabetes. Is your diabetes under control?
What was your last Hb1Ac level?
