No there is no pain while swallowing but if I move the right way or press on the sides of my neck it hurts.

so after a few days the syptomes go away with advil bur it is still there. what is my next coarse of action?

Mild pain does not cause much problems and will settle with conservative measures like warm compression and analgesics.
If pain persists you may require an X-ray and a collar.
