Is there any pain while pressing the neck? Is there pain swallowing solid and liquids?

No there is no pain while swallowing but if I move the right way or press on the sides of my neck it hurts.

It can be a minor sprain or contusion.
Nothing much to worry and it will settle in couple of days.
As of now you can try over the counter available analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief.

so after a few days the syptomes go away with advil bur it is still there. what is my next coarse of action?

Hi,
Is it a mild pain or severe pain? Is there any restriction of neck movements?
Mild pain does not cause much problems and will settle with conservative measures like warm compression and analgesics.
If pain persists you may require an X-ray and a collar.
