Question : So I had a tonsillectomy 6 days ago and the healing process has been fine up until this morning when I woke up with discomfort and gagging. My uvula is very swollen and hanging down my throat past my tongue. I went to ER and they prescribed me steroids. 6 hours has passed and there is no difference. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Possibly a viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think that this discomfort and enlarged and swollen uvula are not common during healing process.
I think this can be related to allergies or to any viral or bacterial infections.
It is too early for it to get healed by using once the steroids . It may require many days to get healed.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
