Question : So i went to the GP on wednesday. strange tingling pins & needles in hands and feet fot 2 weeks. sometimes sharp stabbing pain in both hands and feet The space between my little toe and the one next to it is completely numb . strange sensation every now and again. My nerve pain in vulvodynia is controlled quite well at the moment. I have been advised that this is likely to not be MS and I dont really fit the XXXXXXX for diabetes. Anyhow, today they took six different bloods for testing and I know 2 of them are diabetes and thyroid. slightly concerned I will have to deal with more constant nerve pain just when I have this controlled.

                                    Brief Answer:
Take gabapentine or pregabalin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think the other tests were possibly related to kidney function creatinine and urea, the liver, bilirubin and ALT /AST, sedimentation for chronic inflammation and vitamin E and B deficiency.
I can recommend you to take vitamin B 6, B12 and B1 supplements. Also you can take vitamin E supplements.
Taking amitryptiline will help.
Also I can advise you to take pregabalin or gabapentine.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks very much I do have raynaulds and have done foe many years so I guess it could be related. If all comes back clear and they suggest periphial neuropathy do you think in your experience it could be related to my vulvodynia? Also can nerve pain be fairly mild? and is it treatable ?
thanks again
                            thanks again

                                    Brief Answer:
Both neuropathy and Raynound phenomenon can be related to Hypothyroidism.
Detailed Answer:
OK, further evaluations are needed like a total blood count with formula and ERS since your passed history of Raynound phenomenon.
Low thyroid can cause both Raynound and peripheral neuropathy.
This both can be related to vulvodynia.
It cant be treated definitively but can get better and stop progression.
Nerve pain can be fairly mild.
Antidepressants can be used as you do.
Also gabapentine or pregabalin can be used.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
