Question: Hello just wondering if someone can help out I seem to be having jaw ans teeth pain I have been diagnosed with tmj the pain is I hear clicking in the jaw joint beside ear if I press on it it hurts but I also need a good cleaning any suggestion for the pain

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain in the joint and clicking is concerned, it can be because of the disc displacement in jaw joint. The common causes for this could be mal aligned teeth with deep bite, bruxism, and trauma. You need to consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. We need to find out the cause first to treat accordungly. If I am your treating doctor I would have advised to take soft diet, give hot fomentation over the joints, and prescribe Piroxicam tablets(if you are not allergic and not asthmatic).
I advise you not to get the teeth cleaned right now. Once the pain in the joint subsides then you get the teeth cleaned.

I take tylnol and have applied both hot and cold on the joints plus message I was diagnosed because I tend to grind my teeth and clench them this pain started yesterday

For that you need to consult an oral physician and after examination we can decide what treatment has to be done. Whether you require a splint or discussion time reduction therapy or deep bite correction. So you need to consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get x rays done like orthopantomograph and TMJ views to see the status of the joint. Based on the findings we can decide your treatment plan.
