Question : What is a spinal lesion cyst?
My husband's aunt who is 70, about 5'8", would guess 125 pounds, and saw a doctor who diagnosed that the cyst were located on the L3 vertibrae.

Spinal cyst is a lesion that occurs on or near the spine over a period of time.A cyst is basically a lesion covered by a sac containing bodily fluid.In most cases,spinal cysts are non cancerous.There are several types of cysts and the only way to diagnose that is from the MRI.Most cysts are asymptomatic but some may produce symptoms like pain,swelling etc.It cause is said to be due to repetitive back injuries or occupational where the tissues are damaged.Treatment again can be conservative or surgical.In case of small cysts,they can be managed by pain medication,physical therapy.But if the symptoms are severe or there is neurological compromise then surgery may be required to remove the cysts.The ultimate decision should rest with your doctor as he/she can determine the severity better than anyone else.
