Started With A Slight Rash Under Both Breasts, Used Cornstarch,

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Oct 2023
Question: Started with a slight rash under both breasts, used cornstarch, then cortisone ointment and they started to disappear . Then after aprox. 1 week rash started to become much more red and itchy and looked like the rash was on top of another rash that was raised and I now purchased an anti fungal cream "tin actin" which is stopping the itch and the rash started going away but just in the last 2 days when I put on a different color bra but the same style that I always wear, it started really itching again and now I have a few welts. I also have 2 raised areas which looks like a white skin (almost peeling looking) Before when I was using the cortisone ointment, I also noticed as it was starting to go away with small peeling around the rash as it disappeared.

Brief Answer:
Probably contact dermatitis,a photo is needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I  reviewed the query and here is my advice.

In my opinion the symptoms seem to be related to contact dermatitis. Dermatitis can be caused by contact with different allergens like the bra.
This does not exclude Candida infection, which is very common in that part of the body.
If you can send a photo it will be easier to confirm the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, some advice that I can give to you are:
-continue using the cortisone cream
-use antihistamines like cetirizine 10 mg daily
-wash and dry frequenting the area
-avoid contact with materials that can irritate the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
