HI,
* Back pain, is pain in back along with vertebral column or may be along the sides.
It can be acute ..starting suddenly after over stress,lifting heavy weight or may be after trauma or fall on back.
It may be subacute,long standing causing dull pain over long duration.This can be following wrong working postures, inflammation of joints in vertebrae., strain in ligaments that bound vertebrae together OR due to weak bones(osteoporosis.)
It may follow spinal injury causing discomfort or prolapse of disc.
* symptoms may vary ,from dull ache, pain associated with movements, shooting pains in leg along nerves or tingling numbness. It may cause difficulty in passing urine( when perticular nerve is compressed )or sciatica pain running down leg.
*Now, treatment varies according to type &site of pain.Many a times mild pain goes with local application of muscle relaxant ointments like Relaxil./Pain medicines like Ibuprofen help.along with //home care like hot or cold compresses./ or physiotherapy advised by expert
*when it does not relieve with normal treatment investigations like blood tests,imaging investigations like x ray,MRI CT scan are needed to find exact cause followed by cause specific treatment.
** Symptoms like numbness or tingling,weakness in muscles, problem in urination are symptoms which indicate immediate expert advise.
