Detailed Answer:
Hi Dhadial.
Thanks for writing to us.
I understand your concern.
As mentioned by you, your baby is having symptoms of upper respiratory infection
which is mostly viral in nature but could be bacterial as well.
It is important to do physical examination as ascultation of chest is important to
know type of cough. as it is to be seen if cough is dry or productive in nature .
I suggest you to get your baby examined by pediatrician.
Mostly a combination of antihistaminic with cough suppresants are given. In case
such patient comes to my clinic after doing physical examination I will prescribe
drops like (alex or wikory or tusq p) 10 drops twice a day.
In case of blocked nose naline nasal drops are to be given 3 to 4 times a day.
Most important is to monitor activity/feeding pattern of baby.
In case baby is not accepting feeds properly or is lethargic I suggest you to get
him examined as secondary bacterial infection is very common in infants.
Hope I have answered your query,in case you have any further question I would
be glad to help
Wishing your baby good health.
God bless..
