Suggest A Suitable Diet Be Followed During The First Trimester Of Pregnancy

My wife is pregnant and the pregnancy period is 8 weeks. I want to know that what is the prefered diet for her in first trimester regarding veg, non-veg, milk fruits etc. I also want to know that what kind of diet she must avoid. Waiting for your precious reply.
Regards,
Healthy diet will help her.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Regarding diet in the early pregnancy she can have a healthy food as per her likes. She can have egg, meat and fruits but try to avoid spicy food and take less salt. Green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, pulses should be taken more often. Eat frequent but small meals. If she feels nausea doctor will give her doxylamine tablets.
The nutritional supplements that you need for healthy baby include-
1. A high protein diet- rich in pulses, cereals, eggs, fish, etc.
2. A high calcium intake- like milk, milk products, eggs, bajra, ragi, etc.
3. Eat fiber rich fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables and avoid foods which are not easily digestible and fatty foods
4. Have six small meals instead of 3 large meals
5. Drink plenty of fluids
6. Go for regular Brisk walks for 30 to 40 minutes daily.
7. Take regular folic acid and DHA supplements as prescribed by your gynecologist.
I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal
