Question : I am looking for another drug or a substitute for oxycarbozine. The two given to me cause weight gain. Oxycarbozine has no side effects on me except causes veins to break when I scratch my skin.

Both oxcarbazepine and Seroquel xr are used in bipolar disorder. Alternatives to both medication are present and can be adjusted.

Valproate and topiramate are possible alternatives for oxcarbazepine.

Risperidone , olanazapine and aripiprazole can be substitutes for Seroquel xr.

These require a prescription from your doctor. You may discuss these options with your treating physician.
