Question : Dear Doctor,
I saw advertised a product- a cream- for rubbing on the penis allegedly to gain instant erections.
I purchased it but have not used it.

Would you recommend me to use it or would it be a fraud? Could it be injurious to my health in other ways?
I purchased this after poor results from other alleged aids and not wishing to be on cialis, levitra or viagara.

I am also open to any other suggestions you may make. My general health is very good at aged 71.

Hello again.

I have gone through the ingredients of the cream and none of the contents help with erection. There is no empirical/ factual evidence to prove that. In addition, such advertised products are associated in a significant cases of allergic reaction among the side effects. I would advise against using it.

PDE-5 inhibitor like tadalafil is a safe medication. But since you are unwilling to try that, I would give you additional options.

Folic acid plus pyridoxine supplementation for one month
Alprastodil vasodilators in penile shaft
Testosterone if levels are below 300 ng/dl
Vacuum devices

Some natural options which also help and have had good results with a number of my patients include, garlic, cow butter and turmeric.
